Briefing

Standard chess. You command White against Opposing Command (Black); after a campaign ends you can choose to command either side. Pawns promote to queens. On each turn, either move a piece or issue one order. Each side starts with two orders and receives another every fifth turn, holding up to four. The deck holds three of each order, except Combat Engineers (two) and Spy (one). Captured pieces are held as prisoners and can come back through a Prisoner Exchange; pieces lost to mines can't.

A game is drawn if the same position comes up three times, or after fifty moves by each side with no capture or pawn move.

An order can't leave your own king in check, but it can get you out of check. Smoke and fog lift after three rounds; the counter on the map shows how many remain.
